Sirve para confirmar o descartar una condici\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica, o para estimar la probabilidad de desarrollar o transmitir un trastorno hereditario.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>\u00bfQu\u00e9 tipos existen?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Prueba de variante \u00fanica: busca un cambio espec\u00edfico en un gen (por ejemplo, la variante que causa la anemia falciforme).<\/li>\n<li>Prueba de un solo gen: analiza todos los cambios en un gen, para confirmar o descartar un diagn\u00f3stico.<\/li>\n<li>Panel de genes: analiza varios genes relacionados con un mismo grupo de condiciones.<\/li>\n<li>Secuenciaci\u00f3n del exoma o del genoma completo: analiza la mayor parte del ADN cuando no se sabe qu\u00e9 gen estudiar.<\/li>\n<li>Estudios cromos\u00f3micos: buscan cambios en cromosomas completos.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\u00bfPara qu\u00e9 se utiliza?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Diagn\u00f3stico: confirmar o descartar una enfermedad gen\u00e9tica.<\/li>\n<li>Portadores: identificar si una persona porta una variante que podr\u00eda transmitir a sus hijos.<\/li>\n<li>Prenatal y tamizaje neonatal: evaluar al feto o al reci\u00e9n nacido.<\/li>\n<li>Predictivo o de predisposici\u00f3n: estimar el riesgo de enfermedades que aparecen m\u00e1s adelante en la vida.<\/li>\n<li>Farmacogen\u00f3mico: orientar la elecci\u00f3n y la dosis de medicamentos.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\u00bfC\u00f3mo se realiza?<\/h2>\n<p>Generalmente a partir de una muestra de sangre o de saliva\/hisopado bucal; en algunos casos, de otros tejidos. El laboratorio analiza el material gen\u00e9tico y un profesional interpreta el resultado.<\/p>\n<h2>Lo que es importante saber<\/h2>\n<p>Un resultado que indica predisposici\u00f3n no significa certeza de que la enfermedad ocurrir\u00e1, y algunas variantes tienen un significado a\u00fan incierto.
